Shaheer’s speech at the Houses of Parliament!

Shaheer’s speech at the Houses of Parliament!

On the 18th of May, I had the opportunity to deliver a speech on international peace at
Portcullis House at the Houses of Parliament in London in front of many MPs, Lords and
guests. My speech focused on the economic effects of conflict, specifically on the Ukraine
and Russia war which was the general theme for the peace conference. I highlighted the
impact of the war on the European cost of living crisis and also the horrific consequences
Ukraine has had to face since the start of the war.
This was my second time doing a speech in front of an audience which exceeded 100 people
as I took part in a similar project back in 2018. It was a great experience, and I am delighted
that I was able to take part in this project as it further enhanced my confidence and ability
to speak in public about an important issue in the world.
I hope to encourage OutLoud students to use this valuable skill of public speaking, taught by
Patricia and the Outloud team, and apply it to any given opportunities where applicable.

Shaheer, Sindlesham Court Assistant
